Realizing transformation, leading global growth
“Every time I stepped into something new – whether it was Assurance, Transformation, or GID – I wasn’t just given a role. I was given trust.”
If you’d told Angela Rychlowska in 2011 – back when she was crunching numbers as a junior finance hire – that one day she’d be accepting a Pinnacle Award for helping deliver one of Europe’s most critical energy projects, she might have laughed out loud. But sometimes opportunities come when least expected.
Today, Angela is the UK Manager of Global Integrated Delivery (GID), based in Mumbai. What started as an accounting role in our London office evolved into a dynamic career spanning continents, disciplines and leadership roles.
The power of saying ‘yes’
“I never woke up thinking I’d be an accountant,” Angela says. “But I knew I wanted to do something meaningful. And when the chance came to step into assurance – a space I knew nothing about – I took it.”
She dove headfirst into Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), risk and quality, earning a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certification in just four months – a course that typically takes two years. But she didn’t stop there, going on to complete a master’s in quality management; something she once thought out of reach.
Angela’s trajectory has been anything but conventional. Along with supporting critical R3 work, she’s led transformation initiatives in Argentina. Expanding her role across the globe, she’s managed projects in Germany and Norway, and project risk across regions as diverse as Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Russia and the UK.
A fast-tracked future
One standout moment came on the Elbehafen LNG (Brunsbuttel LNG) project in Germany for one of our major customers, Deutsche Energy Terminal (DET). Angela spent five months on site, supporting the team from first shovel to first gas.
“I stood there as the gas started flowing and realized: this is what we do. We help keep people warm in winter. We help keep the lights on. I’ll never forget it.”
That project went on to win a Worley Pinnacle Award – recognizing not just the achievement, but the agility, teamwork and trust that made it possible to deliver in nine months what usually takes several years.
Fuelled by trust
Angela is the first to say her success has never been a solo effort. “Every time I stepped into something new – whether it was Assurance, Transformation, or GID – I wasn’t just given a role. I was given trust. People believed in me before I believed in myself.”
It’s that belief, she says, that fuels her momentum and her mindset. “We joke about it, but my mentor, Paul Hughes, and I have a hashtag: #Unstoppable – from Sia, the singer. Because I’m unstoppable. When I know I have support and the opportunity to thrive, there’s no stopping me.”
That spirit of confidence and advocacy is something Angela now pays forward. In 2024, she was honored with the Women of Worley (WoW) Rising Leader award, recognizing not just her impact, but how she lifts others along the way.
A career without a straight line
While Angela’s proud of how far she’s come, she’s even more excited about what’s next.
“Not all ladders go straight up. Mine zigzags. But every twist has taught me something. And this story? It’s just the trailer. The best is still to come.”
And in true Angela style, she doesn’t take all the credit.
“My story is made up of many hands and hearts. And my success has never been mine alone. It’s ours.”
