Leading with purpose: Guiding success in global engineering
“It’s not just about technology. It’s about people. Great ideas come from any corner of the organization. We’ve built global networks, so everyone has a voice – no matter where they sit.”
For Shripad Joshi, engineering isn’t just about technical excellence – it’s about building connections, driving innovation and creating lasting impact.
Based in Pune, Shripad is our Global Head of Engineering, leading a diverse team across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
“Engineering at Worley plays a central role in delivering sustainable change,” he says. “We’re solving complex problems for our customers while making our world safer, smarter and more sustainable.”
A global career shaped by opportunity
Starting as a civil and structural engineer, Shripad has taken on roles of increasing responsibility. He’s worked across India and Europe – from engineering leadership to global project governance – shaping not just his day to day work, but also his leadership style.
“Relocating to The Hague was a turning point,” he says. “Working in a multicultural team taught me the value of trust, collaboration and shared purpose. That experience still shapes how I lead today.”
Now, as Global Head of Engineering, Shripad leads our engineering function with over 20,000 people delivering projects across sectors including oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, and sustainable solutions.
One team, connected globally
A key part of Shripad’s role is supporting our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) model, connecting talent and expertise across geographies.
“GID isn’t just a way of working, it’s a multinational cooperation and an aligned mindset,” he says. “It means a project in Middle East can tap into technical expertise in India, with digital support and governance from Southeast Asia and customer insights from the around the globe.”
The GID model enables flexibility, speed and consistent quality for customers. But for the teams themselves – as Shripad has experienced – it offers international exposure and growth opportunities. “Having come up through GID myself, I know the opportunities it creates. It empowers people, connects teams and strengthens how we deliver for our customers.”
Engineering a better future
Under Shripad’s leadership, our engineering capability is evolving rapidly – including everything from AI-based tools and data-centric platforms to sustainable design.
Through frameworks like SEAL (Sustainable Engineering and Asset Lifecycle), the team is delivering smarter, faster solutions that meet the needs of a changing world.
“What excites me is how we’re creating an integrated platform – one source of truth across disciplines and databases,” he explains. “It allows us to deliver with consistency, efficiency and quality.”
Leadership that unlocks brilliance
For Shripad, leadership means unlocking the potential of our people – enabling them to do their best work and feel proud of it. “It’s about creating an environment where people are motivated, supported and inspired to grow. Recognition, psychological safety and meaningful work all matter.”
And he encourages every new engineer to have that pride and dream big. “Worley is a place where you can build a great career, bigger than you can imagine. You get the tools, the support and the global stage to make a real impact.”
