Supporting bp’s
Archaea Energy’s expansion in
renewable natural gas
Worley is supporting bp’s Archaea Energy in transforming landfill gas into renewable natural gas (RNG) – a lower‑carbon fuel that helps reduce emissions and accelerate the energy transition.
Since early 2024, Worley has delivered engineering scopes across multiple Archaea RNG sites in the United States. These include modular facilities designed for different flow rates, with current projects underway in North Carolina, Colorado, and Montana.
The facilities upgrade landfill biogas – previously flared – into pipeline-quality RNG, also known as biomethane, using Archaea’s Modular Design (AMD) framework, which enables a ‘design one, build many’ approach across their portfolio of projects.
Worley’s scope began with engineering support and has expanded to include front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, balance of plant design, procurement support, and inventory management. This progression reflects the strength of the collaboration and the trust built through successful delivery.
“We’re supporting Archaea in developing their RNG portfolio by applying our experience in gas processing and modular design to deliver tailored engineering solutions that meet their needs and align with their long-term goals,” said Nick Cubin, Senior Vice President, US Operations, Worley.
bp acquired Archaea Energy in 2022 as part of its disciplined investment in the energy transition.
