Worley to deliver engineering for Donlin Gold natural gas pipeline

Worley Alaska has been selected by NOVAGOLD Resources Inc. and Donlin Gold Holdings, wholly owned by Paulson Advisers LLC and its affiliates, to provide a Bankable Feasibility Study and Front-End Engineering Designs for the Donlin Gold natural gas pipeline supporting the proposed Donlin Gold project in Alaska.

The Donlin Gold project, located in the Kuskokwim Gold Belt, is expected to become one of America’s largest gold mines. The project is currently progressing through the Bankable Feasibility Study, scheduled for completion in 2027, which will help inform potential future development in this remote region.

Worley Alaska’s scope includes detailed engineering design services to develop a 508 kilometer (316‑mile) long buried natural gas pipeline that will supply fuel from Cook Inlet to the project’s on‑site power plant. The work includes pipeline routing and engineering, gas handling and control systems, and integration across civil, environmental, and permitting disciplines. The pipeline will traverse remote and mountainous terrain, requiring specialized Arctic and sub‑Arctic design, constructability planning, and execution strategies.

The natural gas pipeline is a critical piece of infrastructure for the Donlin Gold project and is intended to provide reliable energy supply to support operations at the site.

Worley has supported customers in Alaska for more than 60 years, delivering engineering, logistics, procurement, fabrication and construction, and operations and maintenance services across the state.

Mark Trueman, Group President, Major Projects and Programs, Worley, said “We’re pleased to support NOVAGOLD and Donlin Gold Holdings on this important project. Our team brings a strong focus on safety, technical discipline and practical delivery, drawing on our long-standing experience in Alaska. Worley combines regional expertise and global technical capability to support critical, complex projects in challenging and remote environments.”
