Worley to deliver FEED for strategic INPEX LNG Project in Indonesia

Worley has been selected to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) for critical subsea infrastructure and the gas export pipeline on the Abadi LNG Project in Indonesia.

INPEX Corporation, through its subsidiary INPEX Masela Ltd., aims to produce 9.5 million tons of LNG annually, enough to supply more than 10% of Japan’s annual imports.

The project will also integrate carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, making it a key part of Indonesia’s energy transition strategy.

The FEED scope is led by Worley’s team in Indonesia and supported by specialists from the subsea Centers of Excellence in Singapore and Perth, as well as Malaysia. With over 70% of the work being delivered in Indonesia, this contract builds capability in-country while leveraging expertise from across APAC.

Vasant Malhotra, Senior Vice President, SEA, said: “This is an exciting milestone for us and by combining local knowledge with global expertise, we’re well positioned to deliver a project of this scale and complexity.”

Dolreich Fernandes, Country Manager, Indonesia, said: “We’re proud to be delivering the majority of this work from Indonesia, supported by our APAC region subsea expertise. It’s a testament to the team’s capability and the strong relationships we continue to build with our stakeholders and customers.”

Jarrad Blinco, Executive Project Director – Abadi Project, said: “The Abadi Project is a highly strategic project for INPEX and Indonesia therefore, we are delighted to be advancing into FEED as we progress towards a final investment decision. Given the technical challenges of Abadi, we are very pleased to have Worley lead the FEED for our SURF, GEP and CCS pipeline packages, based out of Jakarta.”

The Abadi LNG Project is an example of Worley’s role in enabling lower-carbon energy solutions across Asia‑Pacific by combining natural gas development with integrated CCS technology.
