Headshot of Craig Henderson of Worley Consulting.

After over a decade with Worley Consulting, Craig Henderson has built a career defined by curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to take on complexity. Starting as an Associate in Brisbane, Australia, he then spent six years building his career in Singapore before returning to Australia to lead our APAC Consulting operations from Melbourne.

Craig now leads a diverse, global consulting team, including our largest Consulting delivery center in India, supporting projects from concept to completion across the globe. What excites him most is how the role has evolved alongside the industry.

“The ability to work on the origination part of a project, knowing that we’ve got the capacity to deliver all the way through, that’s the big change I’ve experienced through my time at Worley.” Craig says. “The pleasure, and the real superpower, in our business is bringing an execution‑led perspective into those early decisions, drawing on our understanding of how projects are actually executed and operated in the real world.”

Connecting complexity to create something bigger

For Craig, meaningful work isn’t about a single project; it’s about building capability that unlocks impact at scale.

One standout initiative involved bringing together previously separate technical capabilities into one integrated offering, enabling more effective solutions in support of the energy transition. The result is a global program spanning multiple regions, delivering real‑world change by displacing more carbon-intensive systems.

“It was really the concept of coupling, two very technically complex parts of the market needed to be connected commercially,” he explains. “That integrated team is still proving to be a very exciting and fast‑paced team working all over the world.”

At the heart of this work is Craig’s belief in systems thinking; seeing the bigger picture rather than focusing on one discipline.

“You’ve got to understand how it all connects. Engineering fundamentals, commercial realities and how things drive profitability and societal impact.”

It’s also where one of his personal taglines comes to life: “Understand what can be done before deciding what should be done.”

Navigating the unknown

If there’s one constant in Craig’s work, it’s uncertainty. “Every project is a step into the unknown,” he says.

From shifting policy landscapes to evolving market conditions, many factors are outside a project team’s control. But rather than seeing these as obstacles, Craig sees them as accelerators for learning.

“When you’ve dealt with something really hard on another project, you make sure you’ve got it on the next one, that’s the wonder of consulting: ever learning.”

This mindset shapes how he leads his team of more than 650 consultants across multiple regions and time zones. His approach is simple but powerful: Hire great people, encourage diverse thinking and, most importantly, collaborate.

“Growth through collaboration,” Craig says with a smile – another tagline his team knows well.

From outputs to outcomes

For Craig, success isn’t measured by deliverables, it’s measured by impact: “When customers feel that they are better positioned to achieve their strategic objectives because of the outcomes we delivered.”

It’s this focus on outcomes that reinforces our Full Project Delivery approach, moving beyond technical execution to help shape, enable and deliver projects across the entire lifecycle.

“We’re not just delivering outputs, we’re delivering outcomes and building trust,” he says.

That ability to integrate technical, commercial and strategic thinking – supported by growing digital and AI capabilities – is what sets us apart.

Grounded, curious and always moving forward

Outside of work, Craig likes to get outdoors, particularly on the family farm, where he enjoys getting back to his roots, having grown up on a farm in Kenya.

“I love being outside,” he says.

It’s a passion reflected in his career, having spent time working across regions from Southeast Asia to Africa and beyond. That exposure to different cultures and developing economies has shaped his overall perspective.

It’s a simple, but effective outlook: “Stay curious and always learn.”

Delivering what matters

Craig’s story reflects what we do best: bringing together people, expertise and technology to solve complex problems and help customers move forward with confidence.

“It’s about creating a real, bankable project and then having the opportunity to support it through its full lifecycle.”
